If you said “I will transform the work-style of my company!” Government might give you 300,000 yen…
HATARAKIKATA-KAIKAKU (働き方改革 : work-style transformation)is still one of the hottest topics in Japan. Large companies started “Premium Friday” in order to drive employees working in large corporations away and let them go straight to Izakaya to contribute for Japanese economy. The Government of Japan REALLY WANTS TO CHANGE THE WORK STYLE of Japanese companies.
The Government of Japan created “TOKYO 働き方改革宣言奨励金,” a subsidy program for companies to transform the work-style. The applicants have to based in Tokyo, and have been employing at least 2 employees for over 6 months.
Interestingly if the applicant declare that “we will do HATARAKIKATA-KAIKAKU!” and submit reports with
- Analysis of overwork — how you can reduce overwork
- Solutions for the problems — onsite (working hours) and offsite (day-off)
- Practice to transform the work-style and KPI
- Project team to drive the company to HATARAKIKATA-KAIKAKU
then the company can get 300,000 yen subsidy.
In FY2019 the number of the applicants is 1,000 companies, and the last application deadline is on December 5th. (*** you have to pre-register by November 9th)
In addition to the above, there are some extra benefits if the applicants specifically start creating rules and transforming the work-style.
For example, starting flexible-work schedule, shortening of the working hours among regular employees, teleworking…, that will give additional 100,000 yen to the applicants (per rule).
SIMPLE and USEFUL.
It’s always time-consuming to prepare all the documents (see what to prepare on this guideline), but it’ll be nice to just apply if you have a Japanese partner who can help you submitting it.
Seems like only 20 companies will be selected on the last application period, but you can make use of what you write on the application form for the other application form of subsidy programs as well.
It’s always nice to write your application form based on “what kind of policy the Government of Japan offers, and what is their goal.”
Hope Japan will find a way to transform the work-style and erase the culture of Karoushi soon.
